KRG PM Receives UK, German Delegation

On Monday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Irfan Siddiq, the UK’s Ambassador to Iraq, and Berivan Aymaz, Deputy Speaker of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany.


According to the KRG readout, Prime Minister Barzani and Ambassador Siddiq “discussed the situation in Iraq, as well as efforts to elect the new President of the Republic and form the new federal government cabinet.”

Furthermore, they exchanged views on developments in the region, particularly in Syria.


They emphasized resolving issues through peace and dialogue, and protecting the rights of the Kurdish people and all components in Syria.


In a separate meeting, Prime Minister Barzani received Deputy Speaker Aymaz.


During the meeting, they stressed the importance of further developing relations between the Kurdistan Region and Germany across sectors.


Deputy Speaker Aymaz commended the Kurdistan Region’s effective role in safeguarding security and stability in the region, particularly its efforts to help de-escalate the recent conflict and tensions in Syria and to advocate for the rights of the Kurdish people and other components of the country.



On Sunday, Deputy Speaker Aymaz also met with KRG Minister of Interior Reber Ahmed.The two officials conducted a “Productive exchange on recent developments and pathways to deepen bilateral ties and cooperation between the two regions,” Ahmed posted on X.
