On Sunday, the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs (MoPA) said that a Peshmerga base in the Chamchamal area was targeted using an explosive drone.
“We strongly condemn this assault, which is aimed at undermining the region’s security and stability.
“These repeated attacks on Peshmerga bases come at a time when the wider region is facing an especially sensitive and complex situation.”The MoPA called on the “on the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces [Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani] to take firm action to stop these unjustified attacks against Peshmerga forces.”

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the MoPA said that three Peshmerga soldiers had been injured in drone attacks in the governorates of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.
At the time, the MoPA reported that Iraqi Prime Minister al-Sudani and the Joint Operations Command had been notified of these violations.

“We reassure the people of Kurdistan that we are using all our capabilities to protect Kurdistan and keep it away from every danger.”
