On Thursday, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani held a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, congratulating him on being elected by the majority of the Iraqi parliament.
“I hope this will be the beginning of a new phase of stability and peace in Iraq, the resolution of all issues, the implementation of the Constitution, and improved relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government,” Prime Minister Barzani posted on X.
Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani participated in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, seated next to the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zidan.
“On this occasion, we extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to him and his cabinet, wishing them every success in carrying out their duties and responsibilities in a way that serves all Iraqis of all components and fulfills their aspirations for greater security, stability, progress, and prosperity,” he posted on X.
Iraq’s Council of Representatives also approved the appointment of 14 ministers, including the renewed appointment of Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, who also served in the previous Iraqi cabinet.
