KRG PM Looks Forward to Working with New U.S. Special Envoy

On Tuesday, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani congratulated U.S. Ambassador Tom Barrack on his appointment as Special Presidential Envoy to Iraq and Syria. 


“I wish you success in this role and I look forward to working closely with you to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.”

Earlier today, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Ambassador Barrack on his new post and said he looks “forward to his leadership in strengthening Iraq-Kurdistan-U.S. relations and helping address the challenges facing the country.”


On May 31, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he had appointed Ambassador Barrack as Special Presidential Envoy to Iraq and Syria, in addition to his continuing role as U.S. Ambassador to Turkey.
