UN Pledges Continued Cooperation with Kurdistan Region and Iraq

On Thursday, the outgoing Head of the UN in Iraq and Resident Coordinator Ghulam Isaczai reaffirmed the UN’s continued commitment to working closely with its partners in the Kurdistan Region and across Iraq.



“Head of the UN and Resident Coordinator, Mr. Ghulam M. Isaczai, met today with H.E. Mr. Rebar Ahmed, Minister of Interior of the [Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)], to express his appreciation for the strong partnership and close cooperation between his Ministry and the UN during Mr. Isaczai’s tenure in Iraq,” the UN account posted on X.


“A bittersweet farewell to Mr. Ghulam Isaczai @G_Isaczai , @UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for #Iraq,” KRG Minister of Interior Reber Ahmed, posted on X


“Grateful for his dedicated service and impactful leadership, which greatly strengthened our partnership and advanced sustainable progress. Wishing him continued success in his next chapter.”


KRG Department of Foreign Relations Head Safeen Dizayee also met with Isaczai on Thursday for a farewell meeting. “Extended my deep appreciation for his professional partnership and friendship during his mission,” he posted on X.


The official UN account posted that Isaczai expressed “his appreciation for the strong partnership and close cooperation between the Department of Foreign Relations and the UN during Mr. Isaczai’s tenure in Iraq.”


“Mr. Isaczai reaffirmed the UN’s continued commitment to working closely with its partners in the Kurdistan Region and across Iraq.”
