On Friday, former American professional boxer Mike Tyson voiced his support for Kurdish boxer Agit Kabayel in his bid to challenge heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk for the world heavyweight title. So far, Usyk has not accepted the fight.

Usyk currently holds the unified heavyweight titles of the WBC, WBA (Super), and IBF.

"We tried to push the horses, but there's still no response. So we brought in some extra help," Kabayel posted on Instagram. "Usyk, enough waiting. Enough maybes. Accept the fight or vacate the title."

In the Instagram video, Kabayel calls on Usyk for a reply. "Why you don't pick up the phone? Maybe it's time I talk with my big brother, Mike."

"Come, Usyk, come get it, baby. We need that money, baby. Come get it," Tyson said in the video.

"I think Mike simply sees that, from my side, I have done everything in my power to challenge Usyk, and he respects that very much," Kabayel told Kurdistan Chronicle.

"He also immediately offered his support. Tyson shaped the sport of boxing over several decades and experienced all the highs and lows along the way. That is why it was particularly valuable for me to exchange thoughts with him. We had many great conversations and shared exciting stories."

Skysports reported that World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaimán has reiterated that Usyk will be stripped of his world heavyweight title if he does not face Kabayel.

On January 10, Kabayel successfully defended his WBC interim heavyweight title and beat his rival Damian Knyba at the Rudolf Weber-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany.

Kabayel is sponsored by Visit Kurdistan, Kurdistan's tourism and heritage promotion company, and visited the Kurdistan Region in April last year.
