Kurdistan Sets Guinness Record for Traditional Kurdish Clothing

On Wednesday, the Kurdistan Foundation managed to successfully inscribe Kurdistan’s name into the Guinness Book of World Records by officially achieving the title for the largest gathering of people wearing traditional Kurdish clothing.

Over 1,000 participants showed up in Kurdish clothing at the Kurdistan Foundation’s event, wearing traditional Kurdish attire representing different regions, styles, and time periods.

“The Kurdistan Foundation seeks to celebrate the richness of Kurdish traditions while inspiring future generations to preserve and carry forward their cultural legacy,” Sakar Omer Ali, Public Relations Manager at Kurdistan Foundation, told Kurdistan Chronicle.

She added that the goal of the event was also to promote awareness and appreciation of Kurdish traditional clothing and cultural identity, and bring together individuals and families from different regions and backgrounds through a shared celebration of heritage.

Moreover, the event also aimed to encourage youth to embrace, preserve, and celebrate Kurdish culture and traditions, and highlight Kurdish heritage through a globally recognized Guinness World Record attempt.

“With a massive turnout that vastly exceeded all expectations, we showcased a beautiful display of national pride and cultural unity to the world,” the Kurdistan Foundation posted on X.

“Thank you to everyone who proudly wore their traditional attire and helped make this historic milestone a reality!”

The Kurdistan Foundation is a nonprofit nongovernmental organization that was founded in 2024 and aims to promote Kurdish culture and support the Kurdistan Region’s youth.
