On Thursday, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, who is on an official visit to the United States, strongly condemned the attack carried out by drones on Erbil on Wednesday evening.
“We stress that we will not tolerate these criminal attempts, which are desperately seeking to undermine the stability of our people and their determined path toward building the state and preserving social peace,” Prime Minister al-Zaidi posted on X.
“We have instructed the relevant security agencies and formations to make every effort, in coordination with the security forces in the Kurdistan Region, to take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks and to put an end to anyone attempting to undermine the security of our Iraqi society, wherever they may be.”
In a statement on Wednesday, the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Directorate (CTD) said that coalition forces had intercepted and destroyed eight explosive-laden drones over the skies of Erbil.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
