On Friday, the UAE condemned in the strongest terms the “hostile Iranian attack” targeting the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed “that this hostile attack constitutes a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and a threat to security and stability.
“The Ministry reaffirmed the UAE's full solidarity with the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding security and stability.”
On Friday, the KRG Presidency of the Council of Ministers called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop attacks on the Kurdistan Region.
According to the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Directorate, on Friday and Wednesday, several drones were intercepted over Erbil, without causing any casualties.
Also on Friday, nine members of Iranian Kurdish opposition party the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan were killed by missiles launched by Iran on the party’s camps in the Zargwez area in Sulaymaniyah.
There were also drone strikes reported in Sulaymaniyah on Friday evening.
The KRG Council of Ministers strongly condemned “the unjustified attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Kurdistan Region.
“The continuation of these attacks constitutes a grave threat to regional peace and security and risks further destabilizing the entire region.”
