Five drones intercepted in Erbil on Friday: CTD

On Saturday, the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Directorate (CTD) announced that coalition forces had intercepted and shot down five explosive-laden drones on Friday night over the skies of Erbil. 


The CTD said that the incident caused no casualties.

On Friday, the Kurdistan Regional Government called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop attacks on the Kurdistan Region.


Also on Friday, nine members of an Iranian Kurdish opposition party, the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan, were killed by missiles launched by Iran on the party’s camps in the Zargwez area in Sulaymaniyah, and there were new drone strikes on an ammunition depot in Sulaymaniyah.


On Friday, Qatar and the UAE strongly condemned Iran’s attack on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, calling it a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.


According to the CTD, on Friday and Wednesday, several drones were intercepted over Erbil without causing any casualties.
