On Monday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming the newly appointed UK Prime Minister.

“Wishing you every success as you lead the country. I look forward to working together to further strengthen the close partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the UK,” he posted on X.

On Monday, Keir Starmer resigned as UK Prime Minister.

“His Majesty the King has received Member of Parliament Andy Burnham and requested him to form a new administration,” the UK Royal Family posted on X.

“The Rt. Hon Andrew Burnham MP accepted The King’s offer and kissed hands upon his appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.”

In a post on X, the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations office also extended their “warmest congratulations to the new UK Prime Minister, Andy Burnham.”
