On Wednesday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) condemned “the renewed hostile attacks by Iran” targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq with missiles and drones.

In a statement on Wednesday, the UAE MoFA affirmed that these “hostile attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the brotherly nations and a threat to their security and stability.”

Moreover, the MoFA reiterated the UAE’s full solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding their security and stability. 

On Wednesday evening, there were also media reports of the sound of explosions in Erbil.

Last week, the UAE condemned “in the strongest terms the hostile Iranian attack targeting the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.”

Also last week, the KRG Presidency of the Council of Ministers called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop attacks on the Kurdistan Region.

The Presidency strongly condemned “the unjustified attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Kurdistan Region,” emphasizing that “the continuation of these attacks constitutes a grave threat to regional peace and security and risks further destabilizing the entire region.”

Following a five-day visit to the United States that concluded on July 19, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi headed to Tehran on Thursday morning to discuss “ongoing efforts to consolidate security and stability across the region.”
