On Tuesday, Visit Kurdistan introduced Kurdish mixed martial artist Namo Fazil as its newest brand ambassador, continuing its commitment to promoting Kurdistan through the achievements of its people.

Known as “Grandson of Saladin”, Fazil has improved his score to (10-1-0) with the latest win and is ranked 31st in Pro Men’s Welterweight in the Middle East.

On May 16, Fazil defeated Jake Babian by second round submission at Most Valuable Promotions’ “Rousey vs. Carano” event in Los Angeles. Streamed globally on Netflix, the event introduced millions of viewers to one of Kurdistan’s fastest rising athletes and further elevated his profile on the international MMA scene.

His next challenge comes on August 18, when he faces Brazilian fighter Kaik Brito in the main event of Dana White’s Contender Series. A victory would earn Fazil a coveted UFC contract and bring him one step closer to competing in the world’s premier MMA organization.

I am proud to work together and use this opportunity to show the world the strength, beauty, and spirit of our homeland,” Fazil said in a public announcement.

According to Visit Kurdistan, Fazil’s journey reflects the values that Visit Kurdistan seeks to promote through its ambassadors. His discipline, determination, and pride in his roots have made him an inspiration for young Kurds and an athlete who carries Kurdistan with him wherever he competes.

Fazil joins a growing family of Visit Kurdistan ambassadors, including WBC Heavyweight World Champion Agit Kabayel, whose achievements continue to introduce Kurdistan to new audiences around the world.

His appointment is part of Visit Kurdistan’s “Our Time Is Now” campaign, celebrating the growing success of Kurds on the international stage across sport, business, culture, science, and many other fields.
