During a meeting on Monday with Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church Mar Paul III Nona, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani underlined the KRG’s commitment to protecting the rights of all components, including Christians.

KRG Prime Minister Barzani also emphasized the importance of preserving and further strengthening the culture of peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities of the Kurdistan Region.

Patriarch Nona expressed his appreciation for the Prime Minister’s continued support for the Christian community in the Kurdistan Region.

Patriarch Nona officially assumed office on May 29, 2026.

In April, several Kurdish leaders sent congratulatory messages to Patriarch Nona on the occasion of his election as the new Patriarch of the Chaldean Church.
