On Sunday, a delegation led by Brigadier General Ralf Schröder, Head of the EU Advisory Mission to Iraq (EUAM Iraq), visited representatives of the High Committee for Kurdistan Police Reform in Duhok to discuss police reform.

In a press release, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Interior said that the High Committee for Kurdistan Police Reform was led by Major General Tariq Ahmed, General Director of the Kurdistan Region Police; Rondak Faris, Head of the Leadership and Management Academy at the Ministry of Interior; and Brigadier General Saad Omer, Director of Duhok Police.

The KRG Ministry of Interior added that the visit provided an opportunity to review the progress of police reform implementation in Duhok Governorate, including a visit to Nizarke Pilot Police Station.

During the visit, the EUAM Iraq delegation expressed its appreciation for the work of the Kurdistan Region Police and reaffirmed its continued strategic advisory support for the police reform process.

The KRG Ministry of Interior is in charge of the implementation of the Kurdistan Police Reform Strategy 2026-2030, with strategic advisory support from EUAM Iraq.

EUAM Iraq was launched in October 2017 in response to a request by Baghdad for advice on civilian security sector reform.
