On Sunday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani separately received Axel Wech, the new Ambassador of Austria to Iraq, and Peter Nelson, the new Ambassador of Switzerland to Iraq.

During the meeting with Ambassador Wech, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Austria, and emphasized the importance of further strengthening these relations.

Ambassador Wech thanked Prime Minister Barzani for his support and expressed Austria’s readiness to further develop and deepen relations with the Kurdistan Region across various sectors.

In the meeting with Ambassador Nelson, Prime Minister Barzani congratulated him on assuming his new role, wished him success in his work, and reaffirmed the KRG’s support for his mission.

Ambassador Nelson expressed Switzerland’s readiness to strengthen relations with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in economic cooperation and trade.

In both meetings, they also exchanged views on the developments in Iraq and the wider region, as well as bilateral relations.
