On Tuesday, President Masoud Barzani received Lord Michael Ashcroft, a prominent British businessman, politician, philanthropist, public figure, and former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party in the UK, who praised the sacrifices made by the Peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS.

During the meeting, Lord Ashcroft expressed his pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and appreciation for the steps taken toward the revival, stability, and development of the Kurdistan Region. He also stressed the need for the reality of the Kurdistan Region and the Kurdish cause to be better understood internationally.

President Barzani warmly welcomed Lord Ashcroft. He provided an overview of the history of the Kurdistan people’s struggle and sacrifices over the past century. He also highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s rich culture of coexistence and stressed the need to address the legitimate cause of the Kurdish people through dialogue and peaceful means.

Lord Ashcroft also met with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. During the meeting, Lord Ashcroft, who is the Honorary Chairman of the International Democracy Union, expressed his pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and his desire to see and understand the Kurdish people’s struggle and sacrifices for himself.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani also met with Lord Ashcroft and commended his prominent role and contributions in the political and economic fields, as well as his continued support for democratic values.

Lord Ashcroft expressed his delight at the meeting and at visiting the Kurdistan Region, praising its stability and the progress it has made in reconstruction and development.
